• Vintage:  1960's - 1980's
• Details:  This is the Indiana Glass / Colony "Whitehall" pattern, easily and often confused, with Fostoria's "American" pattern and Jeannette Glass, "Cube / Cubist".  It features the distinct "cubed" design with a geometric, textured feel.  This Cake Plate is footed and it's best known as a 3-Toed Cake Plate.  Unfortunately, we are not knowledgeable enough to discern if this is the 1960's "Whitehall", or the 1980's "American Whitehall", so we dated this plate somewhere between those two decades.  If you're not a collector and none of this makes much difference to you, this is a very pretty cake plate that will stand out on your table and bring you years of pleasure.

• Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Very Good Vintage Condition.  There are minor surface scratches and signs of use.  All acceptable due to age/use/wear. Colony was a brand name from Indiana Glass, not an independent glass company.  In 1957 The Lancaster Lens Company became the Lancaster Glass Corporation when they acquired a controlling interest in Indiana Glass.  In 1962, as part of a reorganization, Indiana Glass Company became a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation, the Colony brand was used to market the glass produced by Indiana Glass.  Under the Colony name they issued many different patterns, some of the best known include: Harvest, Park Lane, Crown / Kings Crown, Whitehall and others.  Lancaster Colony Corporation closed the Indiana Glass plant in Dunkirk, Indiana, in 2002.  Today, the Colony brand is still recognized and highly collected.
